“Well, it doesn’t look like a Weather Vane to me,” I said to Hubby as we paused during our walk along the promenade. “It looks more like a Victorian Bus Stop!”
“The Weather Vane bit is on the top” Hubby replied. “It’s actually a Weather Kiosk and has been here since the 1930’s.” “It’s staffed by weather volunteers” he went on. “And they record the wind, temperature and tides every day”.
“What !!!” I exclaimed. “You mean you’ve let me stand here like this whilst there’s actually someone sat inside!!!” “And look, there’s a bus pulling in now anyway!!!” I hissed as I quickly stepped away in case the driver thought we were getting on.
“I suppose we’d better look like we’re interested in all this information” I told him as the bus pulled away and I had calmed down a bit.
Thankfully, the volunteers must have left for the day as nobody came out to start explaining all the charts and numbers in person.
But for more forecasts and reports this Sinful Sunday, dial-in from the lips below.
I’m not sure if there is a Weather Vane, or Weather Kiosk,Scavenger Hunt location just yet, but I’m rather hoping my meteorological investigations won’t be in vain.
A few months ago it seemed that, for the first time in eight years, I woudn’t be climbing my favourite Grecian stairs this summer.
And even when Hubby suddenly exclaimed “they’re open … I’ve booked … pack your flip-flops … we’re going!” I was a little unsure.
But I’m so glad we went. They were so, so happy to welcome us back and … as you can probably tell … I was so, so happy to be back.
And it was simply the loveliest, most wonderful, best time ever !!!
For lots of other wonderful and fun times just “tap” the lips below at this week’s Sinful Sunday.
P.S. – It’s become a tradition for me to climb these stairs to my favourite restaurant here for the past eight years, and I hope to be able to keep adding each visit to my Exposé Vŭ pages for many years to come.
Make of it what-you-will … but lest there be any mis-understanding of my intention … one’s right to one’s sexuality, love and lifestyle should be the holiest commandment of all.
Believers or non … respect, rejoice and celebrate this Sunday below.
“No that’s groin … it’s a different spelling completely!” Hubby said rather impatiently. “These are Groynes. They’re here to stop the waves washing the beach away.” “I know the sort of groin you’re thinking of !!!” he said as I walked down a little further towards the water.
“Well there’s no sand here to wash away anyway” I complained. “I don’t like stoney beaches.” “And it’s too windy as well” I went on. “Just imagine being up there on the Pier. One would probably be blown over the side”.
“I know it’s not like our normal summer beach” he said. “But you said you fancied some seaside fun so you will just have to make-do won’t you. Come on I’ll give you a leg-up to climb over it.”
“I’d much rather be climbing over my sort of groin!” I told him. “I’m sure it would be much more comfortable to sit down upon!”
For more climbing and groining at this week’s Sinful Sunday, just “tap” the lips below.
As uncomfortable as my groyning was, I can at least add “Groynes” as a location to my Scavenger Hunt collection.
“It’s not very big is it” Hubby said as we reached the end of the path on the hill.
“Well size isn’t everything!” I replied. “I thought you of all people would know that!” “It can be seen for 4 nautical miles” he continued, “and it is still a working light.” he read from his guidebook.
“Oooh … you know me, I do love anything nautical” I told him. “Apparently” he continued, “there used to be a second light further down the hill and when both lights were aligned the fishermen would know the tide was high enough to bring their boats up on to the beach.” “Let’s go round the back and see if there’s any further information inside”.
“No it’s locked” I told him. “And anyway it’s all very well for you to want to continue exploring, but it’s rather windy and chilly up here for me. Let’s go back down the hill for that glass of Savvy you promised me!”
I’m sure there will be lots more enlightening fun at this week’s Sinful Sunday. Just switch on the lips below.
I did, of course, claim my glass of wine (or two or three) back down in the town … and am also happy to claim “Lighthouse” for my Scavenger Hunt collection as well. Cheers !!!
“It means ‘behind the dormitory’ … and it was the Latrine for the Monks to use” I explained in my best tour-guide voice.
“Of course it had drains! The gutter would have run down the middle here … one would just have to crouch with feet either side!”
“Yes, I’m sure they would have had to open their robes like this!” I said. “They couldn’t have just ‘lifted them a bit’ … they’d get them all wet down the front and around the ankles, silly!!!”
There’s bound to be lots of other fun explorations at this week’s Sinful Sunday, just “tap” the lips below.
As I already have “Public Toilets” as a location at my Scavenger Hunt collection I thought I would add this, rather older discovery, to my Exposé Vŭ pages instead.
Oh I do love to be beside the seaside … I do love to be beside the Sea !!!
Even when it’s not my usual Seaside at this time of the year . . .
I decided I still just had to be … Beside The Sea !!!
To see what other Gleeful fun has been going-on this weekend, just tap the Sinful Sunday lips below.
I did hear the gentleman above me on the promenade, commenting on the colourful “Beach Huts” below as he and his friend walked by, so I’m certainly happy to be able to add them to my Scavenger Hunt collection.
Forgive me … for I may have sinned … at least in the view of some!
But I have not been led into temptation. I walk these sands free from evil, free from trespass, free from coercion, free from guilt … only to wish that same freedom, power, and glory, to all !!!
For lots more prayers and thoughts, sinful and otherwise, this weekend just touch the lovely lips below!
