I actually quite enjoyed art in my school days … though I could never produce anything remotely creative myself … I always enjoyed looking, usually at things a little more abstract or unconventional!!!
But I found Goya’s “The Naked Maja” instantly arresting and startling from the moment it first came to my attention … definitely pre-teens, and definitely when I knew that nudity was frowned-upon and unacceptable, and somehow naughty and dangerous! (And I’ve always, always loved the naughty and dangerous!!!)
And the thing that I loved about Goya’s painting was the almost defiant and unashamed look in the subject’s face. AND the fact that goodness me, one could clearly see a whisp of pubic hair!!!
So, although I may not have the grace … nor the pubic hair … of the lady concerned, it immediately sprung to mind when I saw that this week’s prompt at Sinful Sunday was to recreate an image, or iconic / famous work of art.
You can see that memorable, inspiring, and motivational, image below.
And, of course, during our fun re-creation session this afternoon, and watching Hubby apply the greytones to his phone-photo, it made me think that I should add it to my #polaroidspast collection!
You can view lots more, creative and fun, re-creations at this week’s Sinful Sunday from gently kissing the lips below!
P.s. If you’ve read my “Modestly Returning” post at the beginning of April 2024, you will know that most of my content here was lost, or corrupted, at the beginning of 2022. We are slowly working on re-instating that lost content, and repairing the broken links, so please bear with us. I hope this won’t dampen your enjoyment here.
