Modesty Ablaze reviews the Tongue Mermaid Wearable Vibrator @Bestvibe1

I’ve always enjoyed my regular “Me Time” moments … whether whilst enjoying an indulgent, relaxing, morning lie-in (and there’s been lots of those lately!) … or
instead to fulfill an urgent, must-come-quick, need from something I’ve seen
or read.


And though I do have my normal “go-to” favourite toys … which I’m sure you do as well … it’s sometimes nice to try a new “friend” for a new twist or thrill.


So I was delighted, and intrigued, when the Bestvibe Mermaid Tongue Remote Controlled Wearable Vibrator arrived in my postbox recently. Delighted because the Bestvibe website has a huge range of “Me Time” products, for both Hers and Hims, with seemingly every sort of vibrating, probing, sucking, licking and flicking stimulators that one could wish for. As well as quite a range of Bondage and BDSM products too.

And intrigued because when I removed the Mermaid from it’s packaging (standard cardboard outer box with a clear-plastic moulded bed for the vibrator, remote-control unit and charging cable), I loved the pretty look and feel of the silicone toy itself … but wondered if perhaps the “anal stimulator” element of the Mermaid, might prove a little difficult.


But, first things first: The principle of The Mermaid is to offer a wearable, wirelessly remote controlled “triple stimulation” experience … clittoral, vaginal and anal.

And I certainly do like the shape of the Mermaid as opposed to the more usual, and larger hand-held rabbit-style, or cumbersome harness-type, triple-stimulators I’ve come across before. And, as I said, I loved the “feel” of the body-safe, silky smooth silicone that the toy is made from.


The egg-shaped, plastic bodied, remote control is less attractive in look and feel, but easy to operate with a two-button shaped controller panel. The bottom button is the standard press-and-hold for several seconds on/off button, whilst the top section controls the 9-mode “silent” (more on this later) options for the 3 vibrating motors. Whilst the Mermaid itself is charged with a USB Cable (supplied), this controller is powered by a small 23A Alkaline battery which is supplied (and already fitted).

Though, as I said, it neither looks nor feels as nice and stylish as the Mermaid itself, this controller is easy to hold and operate and reasonably unobtrusive.


The wireless function of the Mermaid is activated by pushing it’s on/off button on it’s base. It’s not really a button, rather an indentation in the soft surface of the silicone base, with the pin-hole charging port for attaching the USB charging cable.

My first impression of the vibrating motors on turning-on the Mermaid with the remote controller, was that the vibrations of the main, vaginal, shaft were pleasantly strong … though hardly “silent”. Perhaps the buzzing sound would be muffled once it was inserted, I thought to myself, as I had hoped I’d be wearing and thrilling to my new friend during my next supermarket shop.


So, now for some lube … and the insertion.

Now I don’t know about you, but I often find things are tricky with new toys. Just getting used to the buttons, the on and offs, experimenting with the different vibrations and different speeds. And because my expectations, and excitement and arousal levels, are often distracted by the practicality of the “review” process … I always, always persevere … and always, always come back to my new toy(s) several days after the first unpacking and first turning-on.


And, for this first-time insertion, my initial thought that the anal-stimulator might be awkward proved to be the case. I suppose it is always going to be a difficult balance between being too rigid to be comfortable, or not firm enough to make for ease of insertion. And I found it certainly was rather fiddly at first.
But after some … perseverance … I was in.

The vaginal shaft was much easier of course, and so with some shifting and changes of position, I turned my Mermaid on.

The product link >here< to the Mermaid’s page on the Bestvibe website has a clever image illustrating how the three motors of the vibrator actually work. But although I could feel some of those vibrations, I couldn’t quite co-ordinate my body-position to achieve more than just some pleasant tingling, rather than the engulfing orgasm I was hoping for.

And, my other disappointment for this my first trial “wearing”, was that even though I concentrated hard, and squeezed all of my pelvic muscles tightly, I couldn’t stop it from popping out as I stood and took a few steps. And pulling on a tight pair of knickers didn’t help either. Just my natural movements, and perhaps the gentle movements created by the vibrating motors, conspired to “unseat” my Mermaid quite quickly.

And with regard to the “silent” aspect? Well, even if the Mermaid were to stay in place, the buzzing vibrating noise is not quiet enough for trips outside the bedroom. But having said that, for such a small item the vibrations are quite powerful … so perhaps truly silent is too much to realistically expect.

However, as I said earlier, I often have similarly slightly disappointing results with my first experience of a new toy. So I always persevere and try again several days later …

But unfortunately during a number of playtimes over the next few weeks, I haven’t been able to achieve the complete “triple” connection orgasm I was hoping for with my Mermaid. I can orgasm from holding the flicking lips against me, on their own, or … by using the vaginal shaft against my clit, but try as I might I can’t get the anal “stem” to work for me. But then I’ve always found clittoral stimulation the best for me.


So … in conclusion … it is a lovely looking, and feeling, toy and, if vaginal stimulation combined with some anal tickling does it for you, then The Mermaid may well bring you lots of fun.

Cons: Fiddly to insert the anal stem and I couldn’t keep it in place, without holding it against me with my hands. But, that may be just my shape … it may work perfectly for others!
