One of the (very few) disadvantages of sitting out on one’s balcony on holiday
. . . certainly of an evening . . . is the inevitable midges.
And they were even more likely to appear if some of one’s sweet, and sticky, juices from earlier in the afternoon still lingered.
So it was always important to have every available deterrent close at hand . . . especially as more stickiness often followed as the evening wore on!
