Some weeks ago I posted a review on the Blackhorses-of-India Brown Leather Flogger FL0021 . . . and . . . as I mentioned, there were several other rather interesting items I received at the same time. All slightly different but all equally wonderful . . . so much so that I decided to review each of them separately . . . one stroke at a time.
And the one I’ve chosen for this post . . . and for my video review >here< is their amazing Black Leather Flogger FL0022.
Like all of the implements I received from Blackhorses . . . the workmanship in this flogger, is simply the best I have ever had the pleasure to hold . . . and use !!!
It has 42 Leather Straps . . . Yes that’s right! 42 !!! . . . made, I’m told, from Indian Buffalo Leather. Each of them are 72mm wide, 3mm thick and 21 inches in length. I’m not sure exactly how they are secured into the handle . . . as I think the binding trim is more for the look, rather than actually holding them in place . . . but I can tell you, that I have been regularly using this wonderful instrument for three months now without any signs at all of wear and tear. (Well not on the flogger itself of course . . . though the same can’t be said for the backs and bottoms of the subs that I have been using it on!!!) And those lovely 42 straps are still just as firmly and securely attached as they were for my very first session.
The handle itself is made from a solid, varnished wood. It is 8 inches long, one and a half inches in diameter, and 5 inches in circumference. It feels every bit as substantial as it looks . . . and despite feeling quite heavy in the palm of ones hand compared to other floggers I have owned, it is wonderfully comfortable to hold and use. And I think it’s weight and substance actually makes it easier and more comfortable to use for long sessions than any of my other ones.
Blackhorse has apparently been manufacturing equestrian type products . . . such as horses saddles and bridles, halters and harnesses . . . and, I’m quite certain, riding crops and whips . . . LOL !!! . . . since the 1990s. So to diversify into Bondage and Discipline products seems like a marriage made in heaven to me. And the items I have been se nt are certainly heavenly in my mind.
All of the company’s products are handmade and, as I said earlier, the quality and workmanship is simply outstanding.
Now . . . you will probably want to know about the “impact” this particular instrument has made with my submissives when I have used it on them. Well, I always take things slowly and surely . . . building up the tempo of my swinging and swishing to the pace and intensity that I know each particular recipient likes. And no-one is the same. But they all say they like it . . . just as much as I do.
I do love the sound it makes as I swing it through the air . . . and the sound it makes as it strikes the target. And, of course, I love seeing the blushes turning to stripes which apparently can last for several days!
So . . . as you can probably tell . . . I do love this Flogger and I would recommend it, without hesitation, to anyone wishing to add another dimension to their impact play!!!
Now as I mentioned in my previous review, no documentation was supplied with the Flogger so I can’t give you any pricing details, nor specific information about materials. So for the purposes of accuracy my direct questions emailed to Blackhorses, and their emailed answers, were as below:
Q: Can you tell me more about the manufacturing process and materials please. Ie: “handmade”, but in just one factory or do you have more than one production facility? What sort of leather and how is it sourced? And also, my readers normally like to know that products are ethically produced (ie your workers are employed under proper conditions etc. etc.)???
A: We manufacture handmade products by using little help of machine. We using leather and iron hardware and other articles to produce our products. We have our one factory to mainly and some of articles provided by other sources. We are using best Indian buffalo leather for production. Our workers are skilled and experienced.
So, not the most comprehensive of answers, and the website details still seem as they were for my first review . . . but, what can I say other than, I am totally, totally in love with this Black Leather Flogger FL0022, and all of their other wonderful products hanging in my session wardrobe.
Modesty Rating: 10 out of 10
Pros: Wonderfully made. Strong, thick leather and solid and substantial real wooden handle.
Cons: None what-so-ever . . . apart from that lack of documentation / information.
Material: Apparently . . . Indian Buffalo Leather and locally-sourced wood.
Measurements: Overall length 29 inches. Handle length 8 inches, circumference 5 inches, diameter at the grip 1 1/2 inches. Leather strands (42 of them), length 21 inches, width 7mm, thickness 3mm.
Noise: A wonderful “swish”, followed by a loud “thwack”.
Colour: Dark brown wooden handle and black leather strands.
Waterproof: No I would think not.
Cleaning: Obviously always wash thoroughly after use. I first wipe with my anti-bacterial cleansers then with warm soapy water and allow to dry, naturally, before next use.
