Modesty Ablaze reviews The Blackhorses-of-India Flogger

I must admit to being a little skeptical when I was approached earlier this year by an Indian Fetish Product company asking if I would be interested in reviewing some of their items.

I get lots and lots of emails from all over the world offering lots of different things . . . if you know what I mean . . . so I am always cautious in my initial replies to such “enquiries”.

However, after exchanging a number of emails, and browsing the company website at Blackhorses.in, my interest was tweaked . . . and I duly agreed to test some of their products “in the flesh” so-to-speak. Well !!! . . . to say I was pleasantly surprised and astonished upon receiving my first delivery, would be a huge understatement.

Because the look, feel, quality and craftsmanship . . . of every item I received . . . is quite simply outstanding! Easily the most impressive, and most well-made assortment of whips and paddles, floggers and crops I have ever had the pleasure to handle.

Every implement just oozed quality from the very moment I unwrapped them. And, as if that first wonderful smell of new leather wasn’t intoxicating enough, the weight and substance of each item had me immediately swooning with delight and excitement as I lifted them up and swished them through the air, imagining I was slapping at the quivering cheeks of one of my willing submissives bent before me. I simply couldn’t wait to test them . . .

And, over the past few weeks I have, delightfully, been able to road-test them all . . . and, without exception, each has become my next new favourite . . . one after the other.

I hope over the coming weeks to feature a review of each of the different items I received, as to try and describe them all in one posting just wouldn’t do these wonderful products the justice they so completely deserve.

So let’s start with . . . The Flogger FL0021 . . . not because it is my favourite (they ALL are), but because I used it just last night and the wonderful fun memories of that session are still so fresh in my mind.

As I think you can probably tell from my photos here, this flogger is certainly very impressive . . . in every respect. The solid wooden handle is one and a half inches in diameter and 12 inches long, with a circumference of 4 inches, so is easy and comfortable to grip, and easy and comfortable to use. The 10, strong leather, strands are each 17 inches in length and are 8mm wide and 3mm thick, so very, very substantial. And that makes the full “swing” length of the flogger 29 inches from the base of the handle to the tips of those thick, brown, leather strands.

Unfortunately, no documentation regarding the materials, was supplied by Blackhorses (more on that later), so I can’t tell you the exact type of wood that the handle is made of, nor the type of leather in the strands. But what I can tell you is that the workmanship is by far the best of it’s kind that I have seen.

I’m not sure how the strands are actually secured into the handle itself (the lovely woven-effect of thinner black leather banding where the strands join the wood is for decorative purposes only I’m sure). But they seem strongly and permanently attached, and having put the flogger through some vigorous use during several sessions recently, they still look and feel brand new, just as when I first unwrapped them.

And despite feeling “heavier” in the palm of one’s hand than any of my other floggers, it is actually very comfortable to hold and very easy to use. In fact I would say that it’s heavier feel actually makes one much more relaxed and confident when using it . . . and I find myself enjoying it more and more with each swing and slap I make across my slaves back and bum. It does leave some lovely, lovely marks, usually for a couple of days apparently. And, to a man, they all seem to love it, describing it variously as “stinging”, “harsh” and “quite brutal” . . . but they all have come back asking for it again at their next session!!!

Now as I mentioned, no documentation was supplied with the Flogger so I can’t give you any pricing details, nor specific information about materials. For the purposes of accuracy here my direct questions emailed to Blackhorses, and their emailed answers, were:

Q: Can you tell me more about the manufacturing process and materials please. Ie: “handmade”, but in just one factory or do you have more than one production facility? What sort of leather and how is it sourced? And also, my readers normally like to know that products are ethically produced (ie your workers are employed under proper conditions etc. etc.)???
A: We manufacture handmade products by using little help of machine. We using leather and iron hardware and other articles to produce our products. We have our one factory to mainly and some of articles provided by other sources. We are using best Indian buffalo leather for production. Our workers are skilled and experienced.

So, as you can see, not the most comprehensive of answers . . . but, what can I say other than, I am totally, totally in love with my Flogger FL0021, and all of their other wonderful products hanging in my session wardrobe.

Modesty Rating: 10 out of 10
Pros: Wonderfully made. Strong, thick leather and solid and substantial real wooden handle.
Cons: None what-so-ever . . . well apart from the lack of documentation / information.
Material: Apparently . . . Indian Buffalo Leather and locally-sourced wood.
Measurements: Overall length 29 inches. Handle length 12 inches, circumference 4 inches, diameter at the grip 1 1/2 inches. Leather strands (10 of them), length 17 inches, width 8mm, thickness 3mm.
Noise: A wonderful “swish”, followed by a loud “thwack”.
Colour: Dark brown wooden handle and dark brown leather strands.
Waterproof: No I would think not.
Cleaning: Obviously always wash thoroughly after use. I first wipe with my anti-bacterial cleansers then with warm soapy water and allow to dry, naturally, before next use.
